July 18, 2011 marked the commencement of renovations of the Von Louhr Apartments project for ACHIEVEability. This BWA project involves the rehabilitation of 24 units of affordable housing for formerly homeless families in West Philadelphia. The building was originally constructed in 1912 as part of the residential development spawned by construction of the Market-Frankford Line. The 1988 renovation was one of the earliest historically certified and low income housing tax credit-funded developments in the City of Philadelphia. Twenty-three years later, we are updating, refurbishing and recertifying it. May 2012 occupancy is projected.
