John & Maryanne Post Learning Commons
St. Joseph’s University
BWA designed the Learning Commons as a technology-rich environment for round-the-clock use by students and faculty. A generous three-story glazed atrium welcomes users to this academic complex, embraces the campus’s main east-west pedestrian path, and links the addition and the library. Service and orientation for users are centrally located in the atrium. The Learning Commons houses a cafe, social study space, and open computer area on the ground floor; quiet individual and group study areas on the second floor; and special collections as well as exhibits on the third. The team designed the adjoining Campus Park with plazas and walkways to be part of the overall Academic Center concept to foster learning through interaction.
