With the aid of dedicated community volunteers, BWA project manager Morrie Zimmerman led the transformation of a 5,000 square foot warehouse into the Mt. Airy Art Garage (MAAG). This multi-purpose art space will provide opportunities for artists in Northwest Philadelphia (Germantown, Mt. Airy, and Chestnut Hill) to create, exhibit, and distribute their fine art and crafts.
The new facility will provide flexible space to accommodate artist studios, a permanent gallery, art market, and workshops for community art classes. Renovation work included installation of new electrical and plumbing lines, repairs to heavily-damaged floors, handicap-accessible entrances and restrooms, new fans and light fixtures, storefront improvements, and a backyard garden.
Stop by 11 West Mt. Airy Avenue, Philadelphia, PA to learn more about MAAG and see what all of the excitement is about!
